Meet the Team

 

Robert F. Cannis, DMD

 

Dr. Robert Cannis is a native of New Jersey, and has been in private practice since 1976.  He graduated from Muhlenberg College in 1971 with a B.S. Degree, and from Fairleigh Dickinson Dental School in 1975 with a D.M.D. Degree.

 

Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Cannis was one of two dentists selected from a pool of 120 applicants for a coveted 1-year residency at John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey.  There he received additional specialized training in all phases of dentistry including cosmetics, implants, and full-mouth reconstruction.

 

In his practice, Dr. Cannis has a passion for excellence, quality, state-of-the-art dentistry, and "Five Star" patient service.  His desire and practice philosophy is to enhance and enrich his patients' lives, by creating and integrating optimal oral health with a pleasing, beautiful smile.  Incorporating the art of dentistry, as well as cutting edge technology (dental lasers, digital radiography and photography, computerized periodontal screening, and Zoom™ tooth whitening), in the creation of a new and attractive smile, is what makes dentistry exciting and fun for Dr. Cannis.

Dr. Cannis maintains memberships in the following professional associations:

• Monmouth-Ocean County Dental Society
• Academy of General Dentistry

 

He is also a member of the Jersey Shore Medical Center/University of Pennsylvania study club, as well as a study continuum that focuses on state-of-the-art implant innovations.

 

Dr. Cannis, his wife Barbara, and son Matthew reside in Toms River.  They enjoy golfing and water sports together as a family.  Dr. Cannis and Barbara are active in the ministries of their church, Life Chapel.

 

 

Sheree - Front Desk / Treatment Coordinator

 

I attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and Bergen Community College. I have been in the Dental field since 1979, and have been working with Dr. Cannis since 2004. I am married to my wonderful husband and enjoy spending my free time with him and my family. I also love riding my bike and hanging out on the beach.

Janice - Certified Registered Dental Assistant

 

I am a Certified and Registered Dental Assistant. I also attended Union Technical Institute for Laboratory technology, and have worked in a dental laboratory since 2007. I've been assisting Dr. Cannis in his practice for over 25 years. I love spending time with my family and my two pups.

 

In my spare time, I enjoy skiing, camping and gardening.

 

Jillian - Dental Assistant

 

I have been a dental Assistant for 3 years. I enjoy working with Dr. Cannis and his staff. I am married to my wonderful husband Richie and in 2014 we welcome our beautiful son Jacob. I love sending time with my family and our two great dogs Fynn and Penelope.

 

Laurie - Dental Assistant

 

I started my career in 2001 as a dental assistant. I graduated from MCC in 2010 as a dental hygienist. I take pride in being gentle, thorough, and extremely understanding to patients with past dental anxiety. I love helping my patients to have a healthy, beautiful smile. Working with Dr. Cannis and staff is like being part of the family. I love spending my time with my loving husband Steve, our beautiful son Collin, and our three pups Oscar Mayer Wiener, Bear, and Chester. In my free time I enjoy baking and cooking from scratch, and watching all kinds of movies.

 

Diane - Dental Hygienist

 

I graduated as a Dental Hygienist in 1981 and received a BS in Health Studies at Montclair State in 1985. I enjoyed a long interesting career working in Manhattan for over 40 years before relocating to Ocean County in 2023. I am a Certified Holistic Health Coach and enjoy staying up to date in nutritional studies.

 

I have a passion for exotic travel, cooking and outdoor activities.
